How should one approach a work of art? How can one stimulate individual or collective reflection on and around performances? How can one connect one’s own experience as a spectator to the process of guiding a group?

By working with works from the history of dance and contemporary creation, this training program provides a diverse set of analytical tools to foster a sensitive, sensory, and reflective relationship with the work. Frameworks for analyzing works and various approaches to arts education will inform practical experiments, so that by the end of the training, participants will be encouraged to develop their own ways of exploring the works and sharing their insights.

Publics

Artists, teachers, and program coordinators working at cultural institutions, local governments, or nonprofit organizations; individuals responsible for public relations; professionals in the social, health, or legal sectors; and project leaders involved in arts and cultural education.

Group size

A maximum of 20 trainees

Objectives

  • Adopt various sensitive and reflective approaches to analyzing works;
  • Apply analytical tools tailored to the target audience;
  • Develop protocols for presenting a choreographic work.
