Training Programme at CND

Since the CN D was founded, its training programs have kept pace with developments in the dance world by supporting the careers of its artists and professionals. Initially focused on training future dance teachers and providing continuing education for dancers, the programs have gradually expanded to address the diversification of practices, skills, and professions within the dance world. Today, the dance world, like the cultural world as a whole, faces profound socio-economic, ecological, and ethical transformations. The ways of creating, transmitting, producing, and disseminating are evolving, prompting us to rethink working frameworks, relationships with audiences, as well as models of cooperation and funding. To better address these challenges, the CN D views training as a privileged space for experimentation, structuring practices, and fostering critical reflection. The new training program is designed for everyone involved in the choreographic ecosystem: artists, educators, and professionals working on projects.

Professional Development

It is organized around three pillars – Education, Creation, and Professions – which clearly define the objectives of the programs while fostering cross-disciplinary approaches at the intersection of practices and knowledge. Short courses, lasting 3 to 5 days, are offered, as well as longer ones structured in modules over several weeks.

Education

This program is geared towards educators, artists, cultural education and mediation professionals who are involved in passing on knowledge and resources. Our training programs aim at developing pedagogical and artistic skills, through an interdisciplinary approach closely attuned to aesthetic, social, cognitive and technological evolutions.

Creation

This program is about choreographic creation and the development of technical and artistic skills. Courses support artists in their research and experiments by associating practice, innovation and reflection. They tackle the performers’ creativity, choreographic composition, as well as transdisciplinary creation and artistic research.

Professionals

This program is for artists, instructors and dance professionals, with a particular focus on production, dissemination and administration. Courses are about structuring activities, technical and artistic stakes, legal matters, risk prevention as well as environmental and social changes.
