Once disarray, grief, and despondency have passed, the rallying cries begin. After Bless This Mess, choreographers Katerina Andreou and Mélissa Guex are reunited in a duet that blurs the lines between dance and concert. Performing up close with the audience, their liberating energy transforms anger into collective joy. Katerina Andreou and Mélissa Guex are unmatched in their ability to capture the pulse of an era which oscillates between depression and rage. Their respective works have consistently served as a sounding board for contradictory affects. Through a constant dialogue between dance and music, they open up a space for transformation, setting despondency in motion once more. With their first creation as a duo, the choreographers join forces to attempt to respond to the political urgency. Through a repeated cry, their two voices respond in the hope that it will find an echo and go viral. A nomadic performance that draws on the imagination of the venues that host it, SHOUT TWICE aims to put an end to discipline, to injunctions of temperance and silence. The two dancers improvise, passing the baton to one another, extending and amplifying each other’s movements, circulating their raw energy from body to body. This dance concert is a burst of intensity that transcends pain into jubilation.

Katerina Andreou

Born in Athens, Katerina Andreou is based in France. A graduate of the Athens School of Law and the National School of Dance in Athens, she completed the Essais program at the CNDC in Angers and holds a master’s degree in choreographic research (university of Paris 8). As a performer, she has collaborated with DD Dorvillier, Anne Lise Le Gac, Lenio Kaklea, Bryan Campbell, Dinis Machado, Emmanuelle Huynh, and Ana Rita Teodoro, among others. In her work, she develops a physical practice specific to each project. Katerina Andreou explores states of presence that arise from a constant negotiation between contrasting or even contradictory tasks, fictions, or worlds, often challenging notions of authority and censorship. She creates the soundscape for her pieces, which becomes her primary dramaturgical tool. She received the Jardin d’Europe Award at the Impulstanz festival in 2016 for her solo piece A Kind of Fierce. She went on to create the solo BSTRD (2018), the duet Zeppelin Bend (2021) with Natali Mandila, the performance Rave to Lament (2021), the solo Mourn Baby Mourn (2022), and most recently the group piece Bless this mess (2024). Katerina Andreou will be an artist-in-residence at the CN D in 2027 and 2028.

Mélissa Guex

Mélissa Guex is a dancer, performer, and choreographer. As an associate artist at the Théâtre Sévelin in Lausanne for four years, she created several short pieces, including the solo De ceux - Episode and her first solo, Sous sol. She has also collaborated with choreographers such as Géraldine Chollet, Anna Marija Andomaitie on her piece Pas de deux, Augustin Rebetez, and Katerina Andreou on her first group piece, Bless this mess. Mélissa Guex moves between the worlds of nightlife and theater, where she experiments with various forms of performance. She explores transformation through costume and uses urban spaces as her playground.
