The imaginary of the “dancing community” has fueled all kinds of counter-cultural experiments in living social bonds differently, reinventing the relationship to the body, to oneself, to others and to the environment, and testing the possibility and subversive fecundity of collective creation. In this first lecture, dance historian Annie Suquet will turn the spotlight on the wild experiments born in the crucible of the first “life reform” movements at the beginning of the 20th century. This will be followed by a second lecture on 13.04.25.

Annie Suquet’s conference echoes the publication of her book, Modernités critiques - Une histoire culturelle de la danse (1945-1980) on January 9, 2025 with CND Editions.
