Advisory services
The CN D supports cultural organisations internationally in the development of resource centres for the dance sector, in the replication of events created by the CN D, and in the promotion of and access to the CN D’s archives.
CN D’s international projects
Camping Asia The Future Art School for the Next Generation
Every two years, the TPAC Taipei performing Arts Center à Taiwan organises ‘Camping in Taipei’, with the CN D team advising on the event’s design and production.
Canal Asia
Canal, a professional platform created in 2020 by the CN D, was launched in Asia for the first time in 2025. The CN D is advising on the design and organisation of the event, in partnership with the French Embassy in Beijing.
CN D in Europe
International Centre for Production and Distribution
Since May 2025, the CN D has formed the ‘Ailleurs & ici’ cluster alongside 11 other organisations: Points communs, the new national theatre of Cergy-Pontoise and the Val d’Oise (general coordinator), La Briqueterie – CDCN of Val-de-Marne, the Royaumont Foundation (a listed historic building and iconic venue for artist residencies), the École nationale supérieure d’arts de Paris-Cergy, La Villette, Le Maillon – Théâtre de Strasbourg, Passages Transfestival – Metz, Les Halles de Schaerbeek in Brussels, De Singel in Antwerp, the TBA – Teatro do Bairro Alto in Lisbon, and L’Arsenic – Centre d’art scénique contemporain in Lausanne.
Over a five-year period, the programme will support 10 artists working in the fields of dance and performance, based in France or elsewhere, with priority given to those from the Global South or its diasporas, in a clear commitment to equity, solidarity and inclusion. Each artist will benefit from production support, assistance with touring in France and internationally, training programmes, and involvement in cultural initiatives and public and professional events. In 2025, the artists receiving support are Mara Haj Hussein and Mellina Boubetra.
Training
Dominican Republic
As part of the FEF-R ICC partnership project ‘Specialised Artistic Training’, launched by the Fundación Sinfonía and funded by the French Embassy in the Dominican Republic, the CN D designed and ran the ‘French Technique and Repertoire’ training course from 20 to 24 October 2025. For this week-long training course, the CN D collaborated with Julien Guérin, an artist, performer, choreographer and teacher, a graduate of the CNSMDP and holder of a state-recognised teaching qualification in classical dance.
Support for international artists
Buru Isaac Mohlabane
The CN D supported Buru Isaac Mohlabane in his efforts to set up a dance academy in Johannesburg (South Africa). This support was provided by the CN D team in Lyon.
The CN D was Buru Isaac Mohlabane’s key partner. As such, the artist benefited from the organisation’s resources and took part in its various activities. The CN D also supported him by putting him in touch with numerous partners in France and abroad to share his project ‘Pantsula my world’.
This support was funded by the Ministry of Culture’s International Fund (under the ‘Support for the international outreach of public institutions’ strand).
