Teaching dance: Module 4 of the State Diploma for dance teachers
The aim of Competency Block 4, ‘Teaching Dance’, is to develop and assess the ability to pass on the art of dance. The course aims to develop proficiency in learning processes tailored to pupils’ ages and levels, an understanding of pedagogical progression, an understanding of the relationship between dance and music, a functional analysis of the body in dance movement, and critical reflection on the teaching of physical and artistic technique. It involves practical teaching scenarios. The course also addresses current issues such as accessibility, audience diversity, the prevention of violence, autonomy in the learning process, and the intersection of dance with other artistic practices.
Target Audience
