Performance and singularity in choreographic work

A maximum of 20 trainees 

• Analyze and identify the challenges of a choreographic situation;
• Improvise by renewing one’s practice through observation of external elements;
• Bring out the uniqueness of one’s practice within a collective and collaborative project.

The training takes place in a studio.

• Group and individualized practice;
• Exploration and observation of the body;
• Suggested study of video sources featuring notable music, dance, and film performances.

Instructor

Harris Gkekas

A Greek dancer, choreographer, and teacher, Harris Gkekas quickly joined repertory companies such as the Ballet du Rhin, the Ballet de Genève, and the Ballet de Lyon. Since 2014, he has worked with choreographers such as Christian Rizzo, Catherine Diverrès, Théo Mercier, Hervé Robbe, Ioannis Mandafounis, Michèle Noiret, Noëlle Genod, Lionel Hoche, Fabrice Lambert, and Jeanne Brouaye. At the same time, he has been working as a choreographer since 2015, and with STRATES, his company, he has presented nine of his own creations in France, Luxembourg, Spain, Switzerland, Greece, and Belgium. He also creates commissioned works for repertory companies and higher education institutions. He serves as an instructor at training centers, repertory companies, and international higher education institutions. His choreographic and pedagogical work is, above all, focused on the performer’s experience. His playful and dynamic methods foster a sense of equality and encourage sharing with generosity and authenticity. His exploration of the fragment produces a subtle dialectic, governed by the integrity of movement and challenging the habits dictated by organicity. His most recent works examine the loss of reference points.

• Fill out the online registration form.
• To apply for financial assistance, please submit your request no later than 6 weeks before the start of the training program by contacting the administrative office to complete your application (AFDAS, France Travail, Adami, etc.).
• Applications are reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis and based on the relevance of your background if there are prerequisites.

Your registration will be finalized once your application has been approved and your payment has been received.

• A self-assessment is conducted at the beginning and end of the training.
• A certificate of completion is issued to each participant at the end of the training.
• A questionnaire evaluating the training and what was learned is sent to the trainees after the course.
