What is classical dance today?

What does “classical dance” mean in different cultural and geographical contexts? From the tradition of Western ballet to dances originating in the Middle East or India that have become “classical,” this roundtable aims to explore the ways in which the concept of “classical dance” shapes dance worldwide. It brings together artists from several continents – featured in the festival’s program – as well as researchers involved in the production of issue 15 of the journal Recherches en danse.
