Retrouvailles inespérées

Loosely based on an 19th-century story from Johann Peter Hebel's Histoires d'almanach (a tale of deferred engagement and posthumous reunion), Retrouvailles inespérées turns the narrative into a tension, a crossing, a choreographic matrix. Anna Massoni and Vincent Weber use this literary material to compose a hybrid form: a solo for two, a double narrative, a duet that questions the possible intersections of narrative and movement. On a bi-frontal stage, the bodies respond to each other, turn around and evade each other. Reversal, a key motif in these popular fables, permeates the way movement is devised: tilts, suspensions, surges draw a moving score, between abstraction and narration. The duo explores the threshold between presence and absence, between what is shown and what is hidden. In this form which allows every element to be reversible, narrative and movement are written together, in search of a common ground, thus showing the way to a reunion.

Anna Massoni et Vincent Weber

Anna Massoni and Vincent Weber have been developing research together for several years, at the crossroads of gesture, narrative and perception. Their choreographic work explores the tensions between abstraction and narrative, through a precise and sensitive writing of movement. Alongside their creative projects for the stage, they are also involved in the activities of the Trente-trois morceaux publishing house.
