Health studio / exploratory workshops

Sessions led by a masseur physiotherapist are on offer for an initiation into the use of the material available in the health studio, and to carry out a sequence of warming-up, recovery or work on a specific part of the body.

2.10

With Santiago del Valle Acedo, the founder and director of Corporis Fabrica®, a physiotherapist specialised in dancers and other stage artists.

14:00 – 16:00
Workshop #1 Work on the ankle-foot / knee complex

So as to improve the quality of gestures (accuracy, speed, strength), this workshop offers strengthening, limbering-up, self-massage and coordination exercises, by making a connection with the gestural situations that expose the various solicited regions of the body: leaps, full pliés as well as squatting, pirouettes etc.

16:00 – 18:00
Workshop #2 Work on the top of the body: the neck, thorax, shoulder girdle
This workshop deals with the principles of bodily functions as applied to the shoulder girdle and the cervicothoracic region. With the help of materials, exercises focused on strengthening, self-massage, limbering-up and coordination to improve the quality of gestures (accuracy, speed, strength) will be on offer. The aim will also be to make a connection with various situations that are particularly demanding that can be found in dance, such as lifts, floor work or the cervicothoracic “whiplash” dynamic.

With Jean-Baptiste Colombié, a sports physiotherapist and fitness trainer, with the Malandain Ballet Biarritz

14:00 – 16:00
Workshop #1 Ankle instabilities: how to detect and treat them?

Ankle instability affects 50% of dancers. More than just upsetting their balance, it is also responsible for a large number of pathologies in the lower legs of dancers. An understanding of biomechanics, specific protocols and neuromotor reprogramming are solutions that can be used for treating this pathology. This workshop combines theory, applied biomechanics and work on the protocols set up by the Malandain Ballet Biarritz.

16:00 – 18:00
Workshop #2 The dancer’s cardio: practical solutions

Long neglected, the development of the dancer’s cardiopulminory system is an undeniable advantage when it comes both to technical progression and the prevention of injuries. However, more than just understanding its interest, the idea is also to include it in a dancer’s life... When? In what form? How about self-evaluation? All these points need probing. This workshop includes phases covering the theory of metabolic networks, workloads and experimenting with the specific protocols as developed by the Malandain Ballet Biarritz: a cardiopulminory test, cardio training and core training.
