From the tutu to the academic, from the classical posture to neo-classical claims? What is a neo-classical dance? “Something contemporary that lifts its legs”? A liberated classical technique? Or being modernised?

This study day examines the history, usages and aesthetic relevance of this category, as well as its place in current reflections. Choreographers’ approaches, as observed through presentations and testimonies, will mean being able to examine the meaning and resonances of the term “neoclassical” in the French and international choreographic field since 1945.
