CN D Pantin

Always in relation to space, sky, earth, the dance is defined in speed as well as in the commitment to the desired quality of movement - travelling through one's own paths of movement and finding the proposed state of the body.

Jean Alavi studied dance at the Conservatoire de La Rochelle with Karin Waehner and Colette Milner. From 1995 onwards, he pursued his career as a performer, notably with Gigi Caciuleanu, Blanca Li, Laura Scozzi, Gilles Baron, Dominique Rebaud, Luc Petton, Édouard Lock and Pina Bausch. Since 1998, he has created several pieces, including Sixâmes, for which he won first prize in the Young Choreographers of Normandy competition. As a state-qualified teacher, he teaches courses, workshops and choreographies in several schools, national conservatories, at the CNSMDP, the dance school of the Opéra National de Paris, the Centre National de Danse Contemporaine (CNDC) in Angers, at The Place, in London, Switzerland, Egypt and Italy. Since 2007, he has been a senior professor of contemporary dance at the CNSMDP.
