Chloé Déchery is a performer, director, writer and researcher. Her creative work values experimentation, process and collaborative dynamics, and is based on performative or choreographic “dispositifs” that vary according to the project and their internal logics. In her pieces, Chloé explores issues around language and communicability, memory and archive, while questioning self-narrative and modes of alliance between living humans and non-humans. A trained performer, Chloé Déchery works as a performance artist in France, the UK and Australia. She has collaborated with international choreographers, artists and directors (including The Fondue Set, Improbable, Ivana Müller, Olivier Normand, Anne Bean, Sheila Ghelani...). Her works include Créer sous d'autres noms que le sien (2024); Bardane et moi (2022 or On The Horizon (2017). Her work, supported by the association moustache, founded in 2009, is backed by Arts Council England, the British Arts Council, ARTEC and the Institut français. A former student from the École Normale Supérieure in Lyon, Chloé Déchery is a performance theorist and Lecturer in theater and performance studies at the University of Paris 8.

Marion Boudier is a dramaturge and Lecturer in Performing Arts. She is developing a practice of prospective and documentary dramaturgy to accompany writing for the stage. She considers her activities as dramaturge, researcher and teacher to work in synergy. In theater and opera, she has been working as a dramaturge for writer-director Joël Pommerat since 2013 (Une année sans été, Ça ira (1), Fin de Louis, Pinocchio, L'Inondation, Contes et légendes). She also works with the actress Ève-Chems de Brouwer (Les Mots me brûlent, Docteur B), storyteller Gérard Potier (Une vie de Gérard en occident), Julien Brun and philosopher Bernard Stiegler (“théâtre en téléprésence”), Jana Klein and Stéphane Schoukroun (Notre école, tragi-comédie). Since 2022, she has accompanied writer and director Guillermo Pisani, with whom she co-directs the LSDI company. A member of the Institut Universitaire de France, Marion Boudier teaches at the Université de Picardie and is developing collaborations with researchers in other disciplines, notably in the social sciences, but also in geophysics and robotics. Since 2018, she co-direcs the Performer Les Savoirs program with Chloé Déchery, whose creative practice she also accompanies (Créer sous d'autres noms que le sien). Their work contributes to the dissemination of performance studies and new artistic research practices in France and beyond.

Performer Les Savoirs - opening the toolbox
“Whether through the form of lecture performances, field surveys or documentary performances, the performing arts today display a predilection for research. But what does it mean to develop a research process on a stage, in a studio or a classroom when you're an artist, a researcher or... a bit of both?” (Marion Boudier & Chloé Déchery, Artistes-chercheur-es, chercheur-es-artistes - Performer les savoirs, les presses du réel, ARTEC, 2022).
The aim of this workshop is to share our toolbox and experiment collectively with the incorporation and embodiment of knowledge on stage, striving to restore a movement of thought that feels lively, dynamic and poetic. Using a series of exercises and games identified and developed within the Performer Les Savoirs program over the years, we'll practice articulating theoretical, aesthetic and dramaturgical questions and pushing them further in the studio. We'll explore different research protocols for/through/with performative creation (dance, theater, performance) and creative forms of research, notably through two formats we'll be working on all week: working from documents and writing a lecture performance.
