Constellation

Constellation was created in 2018 by the Centre national de la danse. This artistic and cultural education scheme enables young people to discover the world of dance and share an artistic experience through a common thematic question: “How do I inhabit my body through dance?”. The freely-available tools and resources produced provide support for professionals developing EAC projects in dance.

Constellation is part of the long-term artistic and cultural education program that every student experiences throughout his or her school career. Over the course of the school year, Constellation enables students to meet new people, visit cultural sites and experience works of art, discovering different ways of living and thinking, developing body awareness and practice, providing cultural reference points and contributing to the development of their personalities. The actions carried out interact with classroom activities and the skills built up there.

Constellation unfolds in three main stages: discovery, exploration and creation. Pupils follow an itinerary that includes an introduction in the classroom, seven days of choreographic practice and mediation workshops, two lectures on anatomy and representations of the body throughout history, two performances, a parent-child workshop (for 1st grade), a day of meetings and performances with other groups, and finally, a conclusion in the classroom.

The CND assists educational teams, cultural structures and dance companies to implement the program in their region.
