Dans le sillage des Ballets russes

The ‘Ballets Russes’ were created in Paris in the Théâtre du Châtelet in May 1909 and disappeared 20 years later together with their founder Serge Diaghilev.

What happened to the dance group after it disappeared? How did the myth of the ‘Ballets russes’ originate, and did it stop evolving over time? These questions led to the preparation of an exhibition in the ‘Centre national de la danse’ and its catalogue, conceived in 2009 for the centenary of the founding of the Ballets russes. In their own way, they mark a further step towards the celebration of the Ballets russes.
