Since 2011 and her solo work Loïe Fuller : Research, Ola Maciejewska has been forging a path alongside Loie Fuller’s serpentine dance. Each of her pieces is woven with a keen awareness of the echoes and extensions stemming from the movements sculpted by the American choreographer in the late 19th century. Ola Maciejewska explores with deep interest the movements of matter and the forms it produces, always in flux, opening a field of study for the metamorphosis ever-present in nature. In Ongoing, five performers slip beneath swirls of fabric, displacing volumes of air sculpted by the veils and their movements. She examines the traces left by these large drapes on the dancing bodies. Forms inspired by the spirals of seashells, planetary movements, geological strata, and micro- and macro-movements are also woven into this choreographic language. Ongoing explores how bodies experience these repercussions, this vast continuity of movements constantly undergoing transformation.
