Marie Gourdain

Marie Gourdain is a choreographer, set designer and visual artist who works between Lyon and Prague. Her work combines her training in the visual arts with contemporary dance, using the tools of graphic and sculptural composition as well as detailed movement analysis. She studied animated film at ENSAD Paris. In 2015, she joined the Franco-Czech physical theatre and contemporary dance collective tYhle, and began her choreographic career. Today, Marie Gourdain has five pieces in the collective's repertoire: UN (2016), in which she performs alongside Florent Golfier, LEGOrytmus (2017), Medúza (2018), Mu---Tation (2021) and Icarus (2021). In 2020, Marie Gourdain also completed the continuing education programme for choreographers, Édition Spéciale #4, at the CND and received the first Caroline-Neubers-Scholarship international grant from the city of Leipzig for her choreographic work. In 2021, she created the company Matière Mobile in Lyon and relocated to France. In 2022, she created Seismic in co-creation with Felix Baumann between France, Germany and the Czech Republic. Her work has been presented on numerous international stages and festivals.
