"In this class, two axes are aligned with two questions that drive me more and more, especially when I dance with others: What am I negociating doing when I dance “in dialogue” with others? (Or how do I create a common ground with them in all the relational possibilities that this word implies?) ? Where does this notion of expressivity - that people sometimes use to talk about bodies, movements, dances and performative attitudes that affect them - fit in, and how can this be combined with a rather direct or frank gesture? In this class, I propose to explore potential answers and bits of material that I have already been through or which are yet to be tried out, and which would reveal their importance."

Katerina Andreou

Born in Athens, Katerina Andreou is based in France. In her work, she develops a physical practice specific to each project and seeks states of presence that result from constant negotiation between contrasting and even contradictory tasks, fictions and worlds, often challenging notions of authority and censorship. She creates the sound environment for her pieces herself, which becomes her main dramaturgical tool. She recently created the quartet Bless This Mess (2024), and in 2025, the piece How Romantic for the Norwegian national company Carte Blanche, and We Need Silence for the Lyon Opera Ballet. She is an associate artist at the Centre Chorégraphique National de Caen en Normandie for 2022-2025 and with the Master EXERCE at the CCN de Montpellier.
