A sharing around Diversity in European Higher Dance Education (DDE)
This two-year research project started as a response to calls from students and teachers of different BA level programs in dance to better take into consideration diversity and social justice. We have gathered a team of teachers, artists, program heads, alumni, and invited elders from the fields of diversity, decoloniality and intersectionality to form our team. After establishing some common ground, we spent a week in each of the participating schools – SKH in Stockholm, PARTS in Brussels, and La Manufacture in Lausanne – sharing questions and bodily practices, conducting interviews, sharing lectures. These led to a preliminary report for each school on the observed strength and weaknesses regarding diversity and social justice in their respective programs. The final outputs of DDE are a public report, a course for students, and training for teachers and staff. This evening will be a moment to share the process, findings, ongoing questions, and proposals of the research.
