During the first editions of the Dance Reflections by Van Cleef & Arpels Festival in London (March 2022) and Hong Kong (May 2023), American photographer Olivia Bee followed choreographers and dancers every day. These encounters with contemporary dance creation led to the production of a series of argentic photographs which suspend movement, as if floating, in the beauty of an instant.
“As I was watching the shows, I tried to capture moments when the dancers were moving together in a pictorial way, like a painting in a frame in a museum. Backstage, in the studio or in the street, I wanted to show intimate moments from the preparation to these moments on stage.”
