As transport disruptions are expected on Thursday 19 January 2023, due to the call for a national strike, the presentations of the research and marking work of Yoko Sobue, Pierre Darde and Christophe Duveau-Villéger, which were to take place on 19 January 2023 from 14:00, are postponed to Thursday 16 February from 14:00.
 
“Legong Playon, a traditional Balinese dance”

A Benesh notation transcription of a Balinese dance from the village of Teges Kanginan which is danced by royal families and which developed at the end of the Dutch colonial period; it nowadays is performed during rituals. Gunung Jati will lead the session.

“Stenochoreographies”: a few words on the French school of ballet during the “decadent” period”

We will analyze what is meant by “the French school of ballet” through notation systems adapted to this technique, such as the stenochoreographies by Arthur Saint-Léon (1821-1870), or Antonine Meunier (1877-1972), which will both be compared to the system devised by Vladimir Stepanov (1866-1896).

This session will present a selection of documents (scores and pedagogical notebooks) about Wilfride Piollet’s “flexible barres” (barres flexibles), which sought to replace the systematic use of the mirror and the barre in class by the development of greater body awareness about gravity and the interconnectedness of the various points of the body.
