Profesionnal workshop

Alban Richard

29 & 30.10.22

CN D Lyon

In this series of workshops based on experimenting and improvisation, the director of the Normandy CCN in Caen will share his work methods, and especially how he sees situations as movement-generating resources.

Alban Richard discovered contemporary dance when he was still a literature and music major. Since the end of the 1990’s, he’s worked with choreographers Odile Duboc, Olga de Soto or Rosalind Crisp. In 2000, he founded the l’Abrupt ensemble; he has created over thirty pieces which are always closely connected to a musical piece. His shows rely on dancers’ responses and constraint-based improvisation sessions and they encourage dancers to become the creators of their own dance. He collaborated with many musical ensembles and composers, and has been the director of the centre chorégraphique national de Caen in Normandy since 2015.
