Danse et handicap visuel - pour une accessibilité des pratiques chorégraphiques
vol. 1

This practical guide addresses the issue of visual impairment. It is a valuable tool for all dance teachers and professionals.

Intended as a handbook, this book aims at assisting dance teachers and professionals in providing accessibility for the visually impaired: access to the works, to the choreographic heritage and to dance as a practice, in all its diversity. Feeding on the experience of actors from the choreographic sector, it provides effective educational approaches, skills, examples of ‘best practice’, resource agencies, reference books, etc.
This is the first in a series of 5 booklets whose content is adapted to each disability: Dance and visual impairment (2014), Dance and hearing handicap (2014), Dance and motor disability (2014), Dance and mental and psychological disability (2015), Dance and severe and multiple impairment (2015).
This manual is a valuable tool for all dance professionals committed to the implementation of the law of February 11, 2005 for “equal rights and opportunities, for the participation and the citizenship of people with disabilities” and the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (2006).

The purpose of Cemaforre (French national resource centre for cultural accessibility) is to develop and promote access to culture and entertainment for all, particularly disadvantaged persons as a result of ill health or disabilities (motor, sensory, psychological or mental). This resource centre is supported by the Ministry of Culture and Communication and the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare. Supported by Cemaforre, this guide is the result of a collective work conducted by a committee composed of dance and culture professionals.
