Les SUBS

Born in Brazil in 1987, Volmir Cordeiro began by studying theatre, before collaborating with the Brazilian choreographers Alejandro Ahmed, Cristina Moura and Lia Rodrigues. In 2011, he joined the Essais training course at the Centre National de Danse Contemporained’Angers under the direction of Emmanuelle Huynh, and is currently writing a thesis at the Université Paris-8 on marginal figures in contemporary dance. He has danced in works by Xavier Le Roy, Laurent Pichaud, Rémy Héritier, Emmanuelle Huynh, Jocelyn Cottencin and Vera Mantero. In 2012, he created his first solo work, Ciel, followed by Inês in 2014 then, in March 2015, by the duo Époque, with Marcela Santander Corvalán. He has just closed a first cycle of his work, made of the three solos : Ciel, Inês and Rue (created in october 2015 at Musée du Louvre, in collaboration with FIAC).  He created, in 2017, in Brest, l’oeil la bouche et le reste. Volmir Cordeiro is associate artist at CN D.

Acting, performing, interacting, experimenting, creating a situation, taking up a position, outlining a posture and confronting: these are just some of the strategies among the collective gestures that will guide us during these few days. In an open space in constant circulation, the idea during the workshop will be to share social materials as an artistic form. We will create tableaux, choreographies, spectacular moments, but the point above all will be to produce exchanges and fractures in our ways of seeing each other at work. The face, address, speech and a festive atmosphere will be vibrant presences.
