CN D Pantin
Created for the monographic exhibition A escala humana in Madrid in 2022, LaBOLA, a human sphere in motion, invades the spaces and, for Camping, the CN D Atrium, bringing objects, costumes and spectators in its wake. In a constantly changing game of colors and registers, LaBOLA celebrates dance as a transformative principle and as a relationship to otherness. Drawing on inspirations as diverse as Greek mythology, surrealist painting, punk aesthetics and the experiences of human life, LaBOLA opens up an infinite field for the imagination of its protagonists and the audience. The audience is free to take whatever point of view it wishes on the action, to move aside as LaBOLA passes or to let themselves be carried away by its movement... Devoid of artifice, on the same level as the spectators, LaBOLA condenses the fundamental elements of La Ribot's work. The piece places bodies in dialogue with objects, clothes and text, and draws on notions of scale, passage, duration and movement.
La Ribot
“ La Ribot is a choreographer, dancer, and visual artist. Her art emerged at the end of Spain’s democratic transition in the 1980s and has gone on to profoundly change the field of contemporary dance. She defies the frameworks and formats of the stage and the museum, borrowing freely from the vocabularies of theater, visual art, performance art, film, and video to achieve a conceptual shift in choreography. Her solos, collective explorations, experiments with amateurs, installations, and moving images are the many facets of a protean practice that constantly focus on the rights of the body. ”
Marcella Lista, writer and New Media curator - Centre Pompidou, Paris 2020.
