Jean-Claude Gallotta
Jean-Claude Gallotta founded the Émile-Dubois group in 1979, which later became the Centre chorégraphique national de Grenoble (1984-2016). His first ballet, Ulysse (1981), made him internationally famous. He then created over a hundred pieces, among which Daphnis é Chloé (1982), Mammame (1985), Nosferatu (for the Paris Opera, 2001), Racheter la mort des gestes (2012), le Jour se rêve (2020), Pénélope (2022). His dance interacts with other artforms (cinema, literature, music...) and embodies a singular artistic aesthetic: playful abstraction.
