Stenochoreography is composed of two systems of choreographic notation, successively devised by  Arthur Saint-Léon and Antonine Meunier, which have been used to transcribe some excerpts from the 19th-century ballet repertory. Updated and augmented by Vladimir Stepanov, they provide the tools to understand the technical and artistic innovations of ballet at that time.
