CN D Pantin
This autumn, to celebrate the CN D’s twentieth anniversary in Pantin, the CN D’s multiple audiences will be able to discover, over the course of two months, a program of performances by longstanding choreographic partnerships, alongside new creators; Pièces distinguées, an exhibition revealing the media library’s extraordinary archives, with over 250 funds on display; the ninth edition of the Camping festival – a unique experience of encounters with artists from the international choreographic field, open to professionals and invited art schools – which, in the context of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, has been postponed to the autumn in order to welcome campers in the best possible conditions; professional days to put one of CN D’s main missions – transmission – back at the heart of its action; the continuation of the Working with Violence seminar; and finally, a festive day on December 7 to get together and celebrate this anniversary!
Twenty years ago, the CN D moved into the building on 1, rue Victor Hugo in Pantin, which had been newly renovated by architects Antoinette Robain and Claire Guieysse. In 2004, they were awarded the Équerre d’argent for their successful metamorphosis of the former administrative center into a national resource center dedicated to dance. In early 2024, the building was awarded the “architecture contemporaine remarquable” label, this time to honor its original architect, Jacques Kalisz. For two decades now, the CN D has been in dialogue with the Seine-Saint-Denis region, fulfilling its public service missions in the choreographic sector, and forging links with national and international partners.
2004-2024, and beyond...
This autumn, we will celebrate the CN D’s work over the past twenty years. We’re certainly celebrating what we’ve achieved, but we also want to look to the future, a principle that guides us on a daily basis, in order to keep pace with the choreographic sector and its expectations. Professional days will examine the evolution of independent companies over the last twenty years, the challenge of inclusivity in training processes as well as artistic and cultural education. The program features performances by choreographers who have been long-term work partners, alongside new creators. An exhibition will reveal the media library’s extraordinary archives. Over 250 collections are on display, with one guiding rule: one collection, one document.
This anniversary also marks the start of a new phase for the CN D in Pantin. In 2025, renovation work will begin on the building’s facades. The CN D’s activities will take place outside the building for two years, in close collaboration with numerous partners, before the Pantin building can once again welcome its public.
See you soon to celebrate our twentieth anniversary!
