CN D Pantin
Plateau is part of a project that Ana Rita Teodoro has conducted for several years:
Délirer l’Anatomie, a series of four choreographic pieces attending to bodily orifices (the mouth, nose…) and the organs that link the inside with the outside (the intestines, lungs, stomach…). Each performance in this research focuses on a part of the body which, now isolated, becomes a poetic object. Plateau observes the knee, and its central function in how people walk, and their capacity to propel themselves and move. But also in its social role over the centuries, in representations of both adoration and submission: a genuflexion imposes its will on the rest of the leg, as a symbol of the domination exercised by the person in front of whom we have to bend the knee. Ana Rita Teodoro is pursuing an interdisciplinary work as a performer and choreographer who enriches herself with researches into palaeontology, anatomy, Chinese medicine and qi gong. This always results in free, fascinating pieces, which examine and displace the function and fiction of the organs she chooses to magnify.
Ana Rita Teodoro, who is Portuguese, holds master’s degrees from the CNDC, Angers, and the Université Paris 8, where she started her project Délirer l’Anatomie, based on scientific and philosophical studies. She obtained a grant from the Fondation Calouste Gulbenkian to study with Yoshito Ono and received an Aide à la recherche et au patrimoine en danse from the CN D to develop her research into a butō studio. From this investigation was born the lecture/performance Your teacher, please presented at the CN D during Camping 2018. She has choreographed the pieces MelTe, Orifice Paradis, Rêve d’intestin, Assombro (Fantôme Méchant). Ana Rita Teodoro is an associate artist at the CN D.
