Silencio

Époque is a study, a situational analysis of dances in which a certain way of playing out incongruous gestures was put into question by 20th-century female artists. Made up of ecstasy, delight, subversion, lasciviousness, fear, extravagance and joy, the dances we are attached to require an intense capacity to swing from one mood to another, and to tell ourselves the most insolent imaginary scenarios, without forgetting to disarticulate, defuse and shake up the flesh. For each dance, a programme of imaginary faculties is created to make visible specific presences, varied natures of address and interdependent modes of feeling.

Époque in Silencio will be, exceptionally, accompanied, nourished and displaced by Dziga Vertov’s film Man with a Movie Camera (1929), and Philippe Foch’s traditional, improvised, performative music.
