Before opening up to artistic creation, David Wampach studied medicine. He then trained at Exerce at the CCN Montpellier, and P.A.R.T.S. in Brussels. In 2001, he started to develop a personal approach, tinged with the atrical and visual influences, which he has made part of the Association Achles. After the duet D ES R A (2003), co-signed with Pierre Mourles, he created CIRCONSCRIT (2004), BASCULE (2005), QUATORZE (2007), AUTO (2008), BATTERIE (2008), BATTEMENT (2009), CASSETTE (2011), SACRE (2011) and TOUR (2012). As a resident at the Villa Kujoyama in Kyoto, he worked there on the question of rituals and trance, while making his first short film, RITE (2012). In 2014, he created the duet VEINE, then URGE (2015) and ENDO (2017). He is an associate artist of the La Maison CDCN Uzès Gard Occitania.

On ne se cache pas (We don’t hide)

Presence. Sensing what I have to do, or say, on the stage, in the studio, at the theatre, at a party, in the street, in the subway, within, without. Rethinking what is for me the representation of a body, another body, my own body. What is a state of work, one that suits me, appeals to me or makes me shift, making me seek out new and unknown spaces? Convoking jubilation, excitation, the pleasure of dancing, trance in the ultra-conscious sense. Deriving references from performance history, such as Art Action or the Gutai movement. Going naked. Painting your body.
