Maison de la danse – Lyon

Blanca Franco is a Mexican artist who discovered her passion for movement through capoeira, cheerleading and salsa. After studying social communications, she trained in contemporary dance at the Escuela Superior de Música y Danza de Monterrey. Trained at circus schools in Europe (Rogelio Rivel, ENACR, CNAC), she specializes in hand-to-hand. In 2019, with Sébastien Davis-Vangelder, she creates the duo Seb et Blanca and their first piece Borderless, inspired by contact dance, Mexican wrestling and social themes such as migration. As a creator and performer, she has performed in countries such as Morocco, Greece, Switzerland, Spain, Romania, Belgium, France, Finland, Serbia, Croatia, Colombia and Mexico. Currently, she is a performer in La Tournoyante's Collapsing Land, exploring dance, circus and magnetism. Since 2019 she has been co-director of the FiCHoChihuahua International Circus Festival.

"The workshop offers an immersion into the search for movement for two, exploring vocabularies from highly codified worlds such as salsa, bachata or even Mexican wrestling. Our focus is on exploring the symbiosis between two (or more) bodies, where the connection is such that you become my legs and I become your arms. We incorporate the principles of contact, counterbalance and imbalance to nourish this search for movement. Finally, we play with monstrosity, questioning beauty: how do two dancing bodies become a beast or a choreographic combat?"
