It all begins like any karaoke night. In other words, an ecosystem outside everyday life, where all kinds of emotional outpourings are possible and where “intimacy is performed”. The audience, mingling with the five dancers, is invited to come and sing their own beautiful love song – until, like a natural extension of the music, a slow dance begins. Habib Ben Tanfous’ approach does not focus on the physical practice of this dance, but rather on its various components: the invitation for two bodies to meet and move together for the first time, or not; the reciprocal adjustments that are necessary to prolong this physical closeness; the signs and messages exchanged throughout; and finally, the different ways of bringing this moment to a close. Created as part of the “Orchestre vide longing for you” project, scheduled for 2026, this ‘showing’ uses the slow dance scene as a choreographic and theatrical moment. Here, physical language becomes the spontaneous medium through which two individuals communicate with each other, each carrying their own story and vulnerabilities.
