Pierre-Benjamin Nantel is a choreographer and performer, who lives and works in Aubervilliers. After ten years of karate training, he was introduced to contemporary dance in 2006 through the choreographic workshop led by Hélène Paris at the University of Rennes. Between September 2015 and June 2017, Pierre-Benjamin Nantel shared his research and experimentation within the master’s program at the CCN de Montpellier. In 2019, he won the Tridanse award and was supported in his structuring by the CDCN d’Avignon. In September 2021, he joined the FAIAR in Marseille. He is currently supported by a long-term residency at the Laboratoires d’Aubervilliers to develop a local choreography agency. He is also associated with Boom’Structrur as part of the Long cours research support program.
“The aim of this workshop will be to share various tools for in situ choreographic composition that stem directly from the research I’m conducting into the notion of proximity choreography. This notion works in concert: an address to a small number of spectators, an almost imperceptible presence of an audience, a furtive performativity in the public space and a repeated presence on a site. Alternating studio work, off-site exploration and feedback, this workshop aims to equip participants to create their own local choreography close to where they live.”
