Reconciling the irreconcilable: the art of letting go with the supercharged energy of rave parties; headbanging, that dance form based on frenetic head movements, and the transcendental immobility of meditation; the collective drive of drum’n’bass, and the silent solitude of the individual. Baptiste Cazaux’s solo was born as a reaction to a depressive episode caused by the isolation of sanitary confinement, and responds sharply to the injunction of its title. In this “leave me alone” show, performed by a performer in briefs and shirt dialoguing with six loudspeakers, the desire to carve out his own spiritual and artistic path fully resonates. The DJ, who works under the name Glaire Waldork, creates a highly personal mix of gestural practices and musical inspirations. Contrary to standardized models, the body here only obeys its inner impulses. Even more than a catharsis, the performance appears as the manifesto of an exciting work in progress.
