Corpus / Collection of sources and resources for early dance instruction

If the word corpus is generally used to define “a set of texts chosen as the basis for a study”, Bérengère Valour likes to link it to the collection work inherent in the preparation of a dance proposal for young children. It contains the word BODY, first in each of our acts: from thought to action, from idea to realization, from image to drawing, from music to dance, from word to jump. It also contains the suffix US, which in English forms “we”. Here, it echoes the common sharing of our individual poems, from which we propose experiments, create suitable tools and organize appropriate and constantly renewed transmission approaches.

During these three days, we'll be looking at the design of an Éveil-Initiation workshop as a privileged space for introducing the very young to dance as a possible extension of their discovery and questioning of the physical and sensitive world that surrounds and builds them. Alternating theory and practice, we'll be looking to build up a CORPUS of resources and sources of inspiration, inviting us to feel that we are at once dancer, teacher, researcher, translator and, above all, author of our choreographic proposals.

Bérengère Valour

Trained at the CNSMD in Lyon, Bérengère Valour has been working with the body for several years, creating various choreographic forms and exploring the dancing body, from its awakening to its transmission as a creative experience, within different structures (Enfance Art et Langage, Rezodanse-Egypte, CN D, CCN, Format, Lieues...). Her work is aimed at dance professionals (Éveil-initiation trainer) as well as amateur practitioners, schools and socio-educational institutions, and teaching in schools and conservatories (from early childhood to adults). In 2017, at the heart of Quadrille, she launched the dançer collection, alongside Mary Chebbah, a collection of graphic albums dedicated to the art of dance. For all the books, she creates the stagings and participates in the general architecture and dance/dancing advice of the collection. Finally, since 2010, she has also co-developed Lieues, an artistic research and sharing space based in Lyon. In 2024, she will be working as a performer on choreographer Valeria Giuga's next piece for young audiences.
