Christos Papadopoulos

11 & 12.09.23

CN D Lyon

The focus of this workshop will be on the intention of the performer in space as a reason to move and exist. Giving space to micro thoughts and micro movements in this workshop we want to work on a movement vocabulary that is centered on the gaze, the face and what we can honestly project through that, stimulating a process that is more like a monologue than a moving body. At the same time, we will investigate group coordination not as a moving task but as the result of communication and understanding. These elements can provide a functional structure that is based not in numbers but in individuals.

Christos Papadopoulos

Christos Papadopoulos studied dance and choreography in SNDO (School for New Dance Development) in Amsterdam (2003), theater in the National Theater of Greece Drama School and Political Sciences in Panteion University. His distinctive choreographic style stands out by its highly developed visual-art dimension; the close relationship between bodies and spaces, and movements and music; and the importance of the choral group. Since 2003, Papadopoulos has taught movement and improvisation at the dramatic art school of the Athens Conservatoire. After assisting various stage directors as a choreographer, in 2016 and 2017 he created his first works, which soon earned him national and international recognition.
