Jerk

After more than twelve years of touring internationally, Gisèle Vienne decided to adapt her cult show Jerk into a film. It is composed of a long single take that immerses the audience viscerally in the struggle between the actor and this extreme role. It is also a reflection on the transition from stage to cinema. Strongly evoking the horror genre, the film explores the fascination for ultra-violence through questions of relationships of domination between bodies, embodiment and disembodiment.
