Dancing outdoors

12 > 22.09.19

Domaine de Kerguéhennec

A video exhibition as part of European heritage days, in collaboration with the Morbihan département– Domaine de Kerguéhennec. On 21 & 22.09, flash visits with the team of the Nouvelle Cinémathèque de la Danse.

This relationship of intimacy between dance and landscape has nourished artistic creation since the dawn of the 20th century. Isadora Duncan and Loïe Fuller were the pioneers of this modern dance form. They participated in creating this current of modernity by providing the body and motion with an essential liberty, freed from the codes of classical dance. From then on, choreographers in Europe and the USA have taken dance outside of its traditional theatrical walls so as to occupy nature, the city and its architecture, to create there a new dance and, doubtlessly, a new way of seeing.

Coming from fifteen dance films and archives from the collections of the CN D selected with the Domaine de Kerguéhennec, the Nouvelle Cinémathèque de la Danse is providing a gateway into this special story of modern and contemporary dance, alongside Isadora Duncan, Rudolf Laban, Loïe Fuller, Serge Lifar, Trisha Brown, Lucinda Childs, Anna Halprin, Lisbeth Gruwez, Iztok Kovac, Noémie Lafrance, Roxane Huilmand, Ana Rita Teodoro and Daniel Larrieu.

Special programme on 22.09 with a performance by Loïc Touzé and a talk by Julie Perrin.
