Dance & visual arts: gestures, echoes, passages

20 & 21.02.20

CN D Pantin

This symposium will pay attention to points of passage, exchanges and dialogues between the choreographic and visual arts. The idea is to visualise the transposition, in its literal meaning, of ideas or forms from one medium to another, and identify the traces and cross discourses around these exchange dynamics. This theme concerns a vast field of practices and research (drawing, painting, masks, puppets, sculpture, engraving, architecture, photography, video, etc.) in their relationship with dance, and it covers several fields of research: the history of art and performance, the performing arts, and choreographic studies.

This symposium is being coordinated by Oriane Maubert (PhD student in the performance arts at the University of Montpellier-3 Paul-Valéry) and Karine Montabord (PhD student in art history at the University of Bourgogne). Advisory board: Sarah Burkhalter (SIK-ISEA), Pauline Chevalier (University of Bourgogne-Franche Comté / INHA), Renaud Herbin (TJP CDN of Alsace-Strasbourg), Jean-Marc Lachaud (University of Paris 1), Alix de Morant (University of Montpellier 3 Paul-Valéry).
