The Working Image
Sherwood Chen

04 > 08.02.19

CN D Pantin

This research-oriented workshop examines imagery—from mundane to surreal—as a generative force for dance. Deploying a range of tools based in nostalgia, sensory work, transmission strategies and improvisation, we will construct landscapes and atmospheres from the inside out. Language and its welcome, subjective fallibilities will spark imagination to yield galvanized cellular choreographies at once brute and delicate, visceral and ethereal. We will work in groups, in pairs and individually to evoke as performers and perceive as witnesses the potent(ial) atmospheric shifts and transformative capacities in a dancing body.

Sherwood Chen has worked with Anna Halprin, Xavier Le Roy, Ko Murobushi, Liz Santoro, Anne Collod, David Gordon, Trisha Coleman or Min Tanaka. He practises Body Weather and conducts numerous workshops in France and abroad.
