Élan, a school of equal opportunities for dance
in Lyon

A public institution created on the initiative of the Ministry of Culture, the National Dance Centre brings together all the resources at the service of the choreographic sector and the public. The CN D accompanies and trains professional dancers, promotes amateur practice and access to dance for all, assists in research, preserves and disseminates choreographic heritage, and supports the creation and dissemination of choreographic works.
As part of these missions, in 2021 the CN D launched a school of equal opportunities for dance, called Élan, whose aim is to open up the paths to professionalization in dance. Building on its success and the opportunity that this school offers its beneficiaries, CN D is opening a second class of Élan in 2022.

CN D in Lyon will open a class in 2023-2024.

Élan asserts itself as a space of inventiveness, experimentation, research and training to enable young dancers to discover and explore new artistic fields together. The meetings with artists, the classes or workshops offered, and the performances seen together cross different worlds of dance and offer the students time for reflection and specific support that will enable them to better envisage the next step in their career.

Élan is a complementary course. It will take place over the 2023-2024 school year, with week-long sessions during the school holidays, meetings on certain Saturdays and outings to performances.

The artistic director of Élan is Julie Guibert.
