For several years now Pantin has been changing. This transformation attracts companies andcultural actors that dynamise the city. The National Dance Center is in the quarter of thePantin city hall. The building that hosts the CN D is located by the side of the Ourcq canal, one of the major parisian canals along which you can easily have a stroll, ride a bike or even naviguate. Cycle along the water b y renting a bike at the AICV or using a Vélib’ (there is a station just behind the city hall) or go on the water by renting a small electrical boat at the Bassin de la Villette or by participating to one of the numerous cruises proposed by Eté du Canal.
Moreover, street-art in the district of the Ourcq canal and Paris 19 is not-to-be-missed if you love urban culture. You will also find several restaurants and cafés on the banks of the canal. By the way they get very lively in summer thanks to L’Eté du Canal and the different nomadic or ephemeral cultural barges, urban brownfields or urban agriculture sites. Visit the Magasins Généraux by walking for a few minutes along the water from the CN D . The Magasins Généraux building hosts cultural and festive venues such as the Dock B and the CNEAI. The CN D is surrounded by lots of other cultural sites : The Théâtre au fil de l’eau, the Ciné 104, the Nef factory. The Parc de La Villette is also accessible on foot along the canal. This park programmes dancing performances, theater shows, circus shows, exhibitions, fairs, concerts in all its venues (the Zenith, the Trabendo, the Cabaret Sauvage…). Culture lovers, don’t miss a visit of the Thaddaeus Ropac contemporary art gallery. You can go there on foot from the CN D and apreciate its architecture and its, always interesting, temporary exhibitions.
